Kingaroy & Murgon Wedding Photography | Kahlia & Tim

Kahlia & Tim booked me for their wedding over the phone, and then we became Facebook friends, so the day I first met this couple in person was at their engagement photography session a few months prior to their wedding.  From what I had read on Facebook, I was expecting a couple of lovebirds and that they are …  on their wedding day I was reminded yet again that these two lovebirds where destined to find each other and be together. Check out photos from Kahlia & Tim’s engagement photography session on Kings Beach at Caloundra.

I was excited to shoot Kahlia & Tim’s wedding as it was out at Murgon and Kingaroy and I love country weddings.  Murgon and Kingaroy is in the South Burnett region of Queensland which is about 250kms or 3 hours north-west of Brisbane.  Some of the the surrounding towns include – Nanango, Bunya Mountains, Kilkivan, Goomeri, Blackbutt and Wondai.

So with the wedding being that far a drive from Brisbane it also meant a road trip and weekend away – yeah!!  I love getting away from Brisbane to photograph in a countryside setting plus the added advantage of a few days break from the daily grind of city life and an adventure to discover a place I had never been before. In the previous month I had been to Chinchilla, Sunshine Coast, Byron Bay and now Murgon and Kingaroy. I love being a Brisbane wedding photographer – it takes me to many places {many Ive never been to before} and the chance to meet some wonderful people on my travels.

I caught up with Kahlia & Tim the day before the wedding when I arrived in Murgon, and like any bride Kahlia was a tad nervous and they both were making sure everything at the church was just the way they wanted it. Whilst Tim the groom was rather relaxed but very excited at the same time – a part of the excitement is the fact he has a lot of friends visiting from Sydney that he hadn’t seen in a while. And unbeknown to me at this time, his groomsmen were a bunch of characters indeed. Tim as a wedding present to his bride Kahlia, flew in one of her girlfriends from Sweden to be one of her bridesmaids – yeah girls I hear you !!

The weather was a little cloudy but the sun was peeking through with a slight breeze making it a spectacular Spring day – perfect conditions for a wedding !!

Kahlia & Tim undertook their wedding vows at the New Horizon’s Christian Church in Murgon.

What I love about photographing weddings is that you get to witness some beautiful moments and come away from each wedding with a story, well from Kahlia & Tim’s there are many. One which was very refreshing to see, the groomsmen where seeing the guests to their seats in the church prior to the ceremony – a bit of an old tradition that I haven’t seen for a long time. Remember I told you the groomsmen where a bunch of characters, well after the ceremony when everyone was gathering on the lawn behind the church, the boys decided to jump on the old trampoline and the shenanigans began … check out all the crazy jumping at various times throughout the afternoon in the photos below.

After the ceremony, group photo and family portraits, we headed to Grandview (a local private garden) for the location shoot. Oh wow was I excited when we got to Grandview – the gardens are picturesque with lots of old sheds and beautiful cottage style gardens and at this time of year all the pretty flowers were in bloom and at their supreme best. There was also a dam with an added cranky swan and of course the cheeky groomsmen decided to antagonise the swan and have it chase them even after being warned by the owner … it was rather hilarious ! We had 2 hours at the gardens and I could have still kept shooting as there were so many areas to use and such a credit to the owners vision and hardwork.

On our way to the reception we stopped off at an old church that had been converted to someone’s home for some more photos out front – by this time it was getting dark. We then headed to Booie Bello Vista { a tuscan styled wedding reception venue } in Kingaroy where the photo booth went crazy.  A huge thanks the groomsmen – Lachlan { alias Cameron }, Stephen { alias Bob } and Chris { alias Chris!! } who were my team of stylists and art directors during the crazy photo booth session.  They now are available for future wedding photo booth sessions for a fee … LOL. The speeches were very moving that even brought a tear to my eye and I did love that during Tim’s speech he thanked me and called me “the best wedding photographer in Brisbane” then corrected himself to say “the best wedding photographer in Queensland” and I swear I didn’t pay him anything to say that … LOL.

What a beautiful couple Kahlia & Tim make and they have a very loving bunch of family and friends surrounding them. Best wishes to both of you and thank you for letting me be apart of your special day.

Here are some highlights from the wedding day …
