Wategos Beach Byron Bay wedding | Kaylene & David

PART 1.  THE WEDDING DAY.

Congratulations to Kaylene & David who recently travelled up from Yamba and tied the knot on Wategos Beach in Byron Bay in a Bohemian-Vintage inspired wedding.

As much as I love non-traditional weddings and in today’s society anything goes as far as weddings are concerned, its nice to see some old traditions return – Kaylene wore a stunning Bohemian styled dress for the wedding ceremony but had a sexy little vintage number to change into at the reception.

I was reminded at Kaylene & David’s wedding how small a world we live and how Boots Photography sure gets around. Kaylene’s brother was a guest at a recent wedding I photographed in Chinchilla  { Chinchilla is about 4 hours west of Brisbane – for wedding photos click here } and now his sister’s wedding in Byron Bay.  Six degrees of separation at work – love that !!

The night before there wedding day, there had been severe storms but it did fine up on the day until mid afternoon Byron time. However 5 minutes into Kaylene & David’s location shoot the heavens opened up and down came the rain, so we had to make a quick dash for the cars and the location shoot was sadly cut short which was made extra disappointing as we had some awesome locations lined up as well as some cool vintage props to work with.

Kaylene had been collecting vintage suitcases, antique stools, a Just Married tapestry cushion, an old Box Brownie camera and a beautiful lace vintage wedding dress to change into for the reception, so I couldn’t let the opportunity to photograph what I could envisage to be some amazing wedding day photos go astray cause a tad bit of rain, so I offered Kaylene & David the chance to do the shoot another day, so a few weeks later, we headed back to Byron Bay for a re-shoot. Luckily for us the weather was glorious and perfect for the photo shoot.

We then had no option but to head on over to the trendy tapas bar, The Owl & The Pussycat, where the reception was being held. A little rain certainly wouldn’t deter me from shooting, but it was torrential.  Its tradition that rain on a wedding day is good luck, so surely torrential rain and whales swimming in the background of the ceremony bring a life time of happiness for these newlyweds.

PART 2.  THE BRIDAL SHOOT.

Last month Kaylene & David got married on Watego Beach in Byron Bay in a Bohemian-Vintage inspired wedding. During their private vows to each other there were even whales swimming in the background. However 5 minutes into their location shoot down came the rain and we had to make a quick dash for the car and then onto The Owl & The Pussycat where there reception was being held. A little rain certainly wouldn’t deter me from shooting, but it was torrential.

Kaylene had gone to alot of effort collecting vintage suitcases, antique stools, a Just Married tapestry cushion, an old camera and a beautiful lace vintage wedding dress to change into for the reception, so I couldn’t let the opportunity to photograph what I could envisage to be some amazing wedding day photos, so I offered Kaylene & David the chance to do the shoot another day, so yesterday we headed back to Byron Bay. Luckily for us the weather was glorious and perfect for the photo shoot.

Here is a sneak peek from yesterday’s shoot … Im so glad Kaylene & David took me up on the offer and I got the opportunity to capture these images for them. While they have the beautiful memories of the actual day as it unfolded, rain and all – this was a chance to have some beautiful photos together.

More photos from their wedding day and their location shoot to come soon, but for now enjoy these.

Kaylene & David, it was a real pleasure photographing you yesterday and afterwards hang around and get to know you both better. You two make a gorgeous couple and I loved hearing the story on how you got together – it was my absolute pleasure taking the time out to do this shoot. I hope you love the pics.
